The Landmark Hotel
Empire Room
Officially opened in 1899 this luxurious 5 star hotel is famed for its English style grandeur. Incorporating an 8 storey glass roofed atrium along with many ballrooms and function rooms.
It was one of these opulent ballrooms that Minerva Building Restoration Ltd were engaged to redecorate the walls, French doors, heavily moulded and original fibrous plaster ceilings, which all received specialist coatings. A large amount of the decorative works were undertaken through the night to ensure the smooth running of the hotel.
The Marble Hall
The Marble Hall provides the grandest of entrances to the main part of the hotel. The whole entrance as the name suggests is built from various types of marble shipped from around the world.
The grand staircase with its carved marble columns/balustrades sections and steps sweeps from the ground floor lobby through the full height of the hotel.
Minerva were tasked with decorating all previously painted decorative ceilings and heavily detailed/molded cornice work.
A full ‘birdcage’ scaffold was installed to provide access to decorate the ceilings but as importantly to give protection to the eminent and high profile guests staying at hotel during the works.
As with our project in the empire ballroom much of the work was undertaken through the night to assist with the smooth running of the hotel.
