Cromwell Place is set within five Grade II listed townhouses in South Kensington. Cromwell Place is one of London’s most exciting arts destinations.
Minerva Building Restoration were instructed to carry out the following refurbishment works in this very busy part of London where due consideration was given to the safety of the members of the public throughout the project.
Scope of Works
- Scaffold was designed and erected to provide a safe working platform to the roof, windows and masonry.
- Carry out masonry repairs.
- Remove all defective render from the external surface, rake out and repoint joints to reinforce the brickwork. Apply stainless steel expanded metal lath and re-render with lime mortar.
- Prepare previously painted timber windows, window frames including glazing bars, doors and louvres ready to receive new decorations.
- Apply undercoat and two coats of Dulux paint to windows, frames, doors and louvres.
- Redecorate concrete plinths and portico.
- Remove vegetation, moss and debris to the terracotta chimney cowls and pots.
- Overhaul rainwater goods including unblocking the hoppers.
- Repair and level the impact damage to the front Portland Steps.
- Carry out pigeon deterrent works.
- Cap off existing skylight, install joist hangers, install 18mm WBP ply wood and install Proteus Pro cold system to the new boarding and upstands.
- Install pro cold system covering 150mm onto the asphalt surface to the full perimeter of each window and balcony.
- Install new lead flashings and undertake slate repairs.
- A full time Site Manager was provided for the full duration of the project. This was to ensure the works were completed to programme.
