Garricks Villa
This Grade I listed property situated close to Hampton Court Palace was at one time owned by the famous Shakespearian actor David Garrick.
A large area of the villa was designed and restored by the renowned Architect/Designer Robert Adam between 1754 and 1780. The buildings complete roof structure was destroyed by fire in October 2008.
Minerva Building Restoration Ltd were instructed to reinstate the interior of the property which included the manufacture and installation of the lime plaster decorative mouldings and cornicing within the “Robert Adam Room” along with building generally.
Due to fire damage large areas of the ceilings and walls had their lime based coatings stripped then renewed using matching lime plaster. A sympathetic programme including replacement doors, moulded skirtings and architraves was undertaken. It was of paramount importance that all of the replaced mouldings and materials were in keeping with a property of this historical value and worth.
An extensive internal refurbishment project then commenced to the nine apartments within Garrick’s villa.
The apartments had new plumbing and electrical installations, along with a full redecoration programme carried out to all previously painted surfaces and to the client’s high end specification/requirements. New kitchens and bathrooms were supplied and fitted, followed by the installation of new flooring systems throughout.
The project was completed on programme and under budget.
