15-17 Mercer Street is located in Seven Dials district of Covent Garden, London. The street takes its name from the Mercers company who owned much of the land next to the seven acres of Covent Garden purchased by the Earl of Bedford in 1552.
Minerva Building Restoration were instructed to carry out roofing and external refurbishment works.
Scope of Works
- Erect scaffolding to allow for access to works.
- Hack off / replace flaunchings on chimney stacks and complete masonry repairs. Supply and fit new terracotta cowls and chimney pots. Re-dress all lead upstand flashings. Clean existing leadwork with patination oil.
- Replace any missing roof slates, replace lead dormers and cappings. Install new clay ridge tiles.
- Carry out masonry repairs including sympathetic brick pointing to all elevations.
- Clean parapet walls, elevation brickwork and pilasters using Doff cleaning system, removing all surface organic material and atmospheric staining.
- Rub down, prepare for decoration all elevation stonework bands and copings.
- Repair and decorate all timber window frames and cills.
- Redecorate the timber shop front to the building elevations, window frames, doors, low level panelling and shop front fascias, rainwater hoppers, downpipes, metal decorative railings.
